FORTY-FOUR (A BANNED PAGAN) is a solo music project initiated by Coccs.
Born from a break with a previous musical path, Forty-Four is not a continuation and not a return. It is a new space for writing, experimentation and transformation.
The project moves between deathrock, goth rock, coldwave and alternative rock.
Cold guitars, machines and hypnotic rhythms create a dark and tense atmosphere shaped by themes of psychological collapse, fragmented identity, isolation, guilt, control and transformation.
Not a return.
A new chapter.
FORTY-FOUR (A BANNED PAGAN) est un projet musical solo initié par Coccs.
Né d'une rupture avec un précédent parcours musical, Forty-Four n'est ni une continuation ni un retour. C'est un nouvel espace d'écriture, d'expérimentation et de transformation.
Le projet évolue entre deathrock, goth rock, coldwave et rock alternatif.
Guitares froides, machines et rythmes hypnotiques construisent une atmosphère sombre et tendue, traversée par des thèmes liés à l'effondrement psychologique, à la fragmentation de l'identité, à l'isolement, à la culpabilité, au contrôle et à la transformation.
Pas un retour.

The Story L'Histoire
Before Forty-Four, there were years of shared music.
Rehearsals.
Concerts.
Miles travelled.
Ideas.
Projects.
Then time passes. Lives change. Paths separate.
Forty-Four begins in that space — not to rebuild what existed before, but to start again differently.
The music is created alone.
And for the first time, there is something else to face: singing.
Having never sung before, Coccs chose not to hide that vulnerability. The voice became part of the language of Forty-Four.
Direct. Imperfect. Sometimes distant. Sometimes confrontational.
Avant Forty-Four, il y a eu des années de musique partagée.
Des répétitions.
Des concerts.
Des kilomètres.
Des idées.
Des projets.
Puis le temps passe. Les vies changent. Les chemins s'éloignent.
Forty-Four naît dans cet espace — non pour reconstruire ce qui existait auparavant, mais pour repartir autrement.
La musique est créée seul.
Et pour la première fois, il faut aussi affronter une chose nouvelle : chanter.
N'ayant jamais chanté auparavant, Coccs choisit de ne pas masquer cette fragilité. La voix devient une partie du langage de Forty-Four.
Directe. Imparfaite. Parfois distante. Parfois confrontante.
The Sound Le Son
Forty-Four moves between deathrock, goth rock, coldwave and alternative rock.
Cold guitars meet machines and hypnotic rhythms — sometimes irregular, sometimes close to a tribal pulse.
Repetition, tension and silence are central to the compositions.
The lyrics explore psychological collapse, identity, exile, guilt, control, isolation, death and transformation.
The music remains deliberately dark, direct and personal.
Forty-Four évolue entre deathrock, goth rock, coldwave et rock alternatif.
Les guitares froides rencontrent les machines et des rythmes hypnotiques — parfois irréguliers, parfois proches d'une pulsation tribale.
La répétition, la tension et le silence occupent une place centrale dans les compositions.
Les textes explorent l'effondrement intérieur, l'identité, l'exil, la culpabilité, le contrôle, l'isolement, la mort et la transformation.
La musique reste volontairement sombre, directe et personnelle.

1st Chapter is the first EP released by Forty-Four. Five tracks form the project's first chapter.

2nd Communion
Second EP — In Progress Second EP — En cours
2nd Communion pushes further into frustration, obsession, guilt, inner conflict and transformation.
The five tracks are currently being revisited for final mixing and mastering.
2nd Communion pousse plus loin l'exploration de la frustration, de l'obsession, de la culpabilité, du conflit intérieur et de la transformation.
Les cinq morceaux sont actuellement retravaillés en vue du mixage final et du mastering.

The Story Behind The Silence
The Story Behind The Silence is the journal surrounding Forty-Four.
It gathers fragments that exist around the music: memories, ideas, images, reflections, doubts and moments of creation.
The archives are not intended to explain everything. They tell what exists behind the songs.
The story is being built progressively through the official website, alongside the music itself.

Il rassemble les fragments qui existent autour de la musique : souvenirs, idées, images, réflexions, doutes et moments de création.
Les archives ne cherchent pas à tout expliquer. Elles racontent ce qui existe derrière les morceaux.
L'histoire se construit progressivement à travers le site officiel, parallèlement à la musique elle-même.
Visual Identity Identité Visuelle
The visual identity of Forty-Four is deliberately minimal, dark and geometric.
The logo is built around a mirrored double four integrated into a broken circular form.
Its geometry evokes cycles, rupture, repetition and transformation.
The visual language draws from post-punk graphic design, Bauhaus, sacred geometry and minimalist design.
Black, white, grey and cold tones form its visual foundation.
L'identité visuelle de Forty-Four est volontairement minimale, sombre et géométrique.
Le logo repose sur un double quatre inversé intégré dans une forme circulaire brisée.
Sa géométrie évoque les cycles, la rupture, la répétition et la transformation.
Le langage visuel puise dans le graphisme post-punk, le Bauhaus, la géométrie sacrée et le design minimaliste.
Le noir, le blanc, les gris et les tonalités froides constituent sa base visuelle.
